My stunning laddered solution to stop riots cold - effectively & safely
This will halt any thought of riots now - the moment the president, governor or mayor signs it into law. It goes like this:
The Constitution upholds the cherished right of peaceful assembly and protests. It doesn't speak of any rights to riot or destroy property. Henceforth, violence inspired by perceived injustice involving one or more alleged wrongdoer(s) has the consequence of a laddered moderation of punishment as follows:
Up to $1000 property damage - alleged wrongdoer is relieved of capital punishment or life imprisonment.
$1000-$5000 property damage - maximum incarceration of 5-9 years.
$5000-$10,000 property damage - maximum incarceration of 3 years
More than $10,000, injury or death - automatic acquittal of original alleged wrongdoer.
Laddered examples subject to legislated adjustment.

Truth or fiction - Wanna risk being a Democrat?
Is it true that Democrats provide a safety net to those less fortunate? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why the safety net is passed on from generation to generation?
Is it true that Democrats are victims? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. I grew up a victim of poverty and no health care. Wonder why everyone has to be a victim with no successful program to resolve victimhood? Will we all be like this forever?
Is it true that Democrats are so much smarter than everyone else? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why street interviews reveal no one knows what their candidate stands for?
Is it true that Democrats participate in debates with their opponents? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why the Democrat is always the sourpuss pessimist and the opponent is smiling?
Is it true that Democrats were in power for seven years, controlling the White House and Congress for a time? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why they couldn't get their agenda passed?
Is it true that Democrats want to deny guns to criminals? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why those in power who are protected by guns want to restrict guns for the vulnerable ones? Wonder why Japan didn't want to invade a country with armed citizens?
Is it true that Democrats want to protect women's health? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why the paramount legacy of the party is killing minority and female babies.
Is it true that (some) Democrats want to leave a legacy about allowing men to shower with women and girls? Hmmm. That's a tough one! Perhaps I can think of better legacies.
Is it true that Democrats fight for women's rights? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why they don't speak up for subjugated women in other religions who are raped and beheaded or sold as sex slaves?
Is it true that Democrats are generous? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why Democrats (in general - not you, of course) give less to charity than others?
Is it true that Democrats believe big government is the savior? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why big government is the least cost-effective of any institution? Wonder why we have to send money to Washington where bureaucrats skim off salaries and then choose to send it back to the states or choose to withhold it?
Is it true that Democrats want to build bridges instead of walls? Then I might want to be a Democrat. Wonder why some savage killers sneak over the border whom Democrats don't want to live next door to, but they find safety in living next door to a Christian?
Is it true that Democrats invented the word "NIMBY" - Not In My Back Yard? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why other Democrats practice "BANANA" - Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything?
Is it true that classic Democrats like JFK, George Mitchell, Sam Nunn and Daniel Patrick Moynihan looked at all sides of an issue and chose the wisest option? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why today's militant Democrat (not you, of course) says "my way or the highway"?
Is it true that it is the Republicans who are at fault? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why I believe God's Word that says "All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God"? Wonder why I'm an independent?
Is it true that Democrats want to elect a woman simply because she's a woman? Then I might wanna be a Democrat, because we men have mucked things up. Wonder why Jimmy Carter argues against the notion of electing a women just because she's a woman?
Is it true that Democrats are against greed? Then I might want to be a Democrat. Wonder why so many Democrat politicians join Republicans in jail?
Is it true that Democrats pick the very best America has to offer to run for president? Then I might want to be a Democrat. Wonder why the two top contenders are the worst America has to offer?
Is it true that (some) Democrats have cast off the chains of oppression and have no written moral code? Not me. Wonder why it was Republicans that ended slavery?
Is it true that Democrats wouldn't exist but for a populace of low information and a dependency class? Count me out. Wonder why so many remain that way?
Is it true that Democrats avoid stereotyping*? Then I might wanna be a Democrat. Wonder why, now, the only responses you will see to this from Democrats are personal attacks, rather than soberminded, thoughtful debate or "defriending"?
*Please note, Dear One: None of the above is true of all. Each of us must come to the realization that there are gaps in everyone's worldview and belief system. We often vote for our hopes. Please note, too, that God isn't a member of any political party and that He loves each person He made after thinking of us before the beginning of time. "Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief." Here's how we might change our minds to get along: Trust Jesus alone to empower you and me to live our lives as He would live your and my life if He were you or I. Not there yet, but that's my goal.

Here's an idea on how you and I can find common ground: Let's you and I endeavor to trust Jesus alone to empower us to live our lives as He would live them if He were you or I - and let's resolve to have no other identity than identity in Christ. If we achieve that, it's impossible to be offended.

Fool? Presidential candidate
Marks of a Foolish Leader
We know that no matter whom we elect, he or she will not be the ideal leader. However, it is of urgent importance that we avoid electing a foolish leader like the plague. We as a people have the historically recent and remarkable privilege of electing our head-of-state. If we as a people choose unwisely, it will be on our own heads.
How do we know if a potential leader is foolish? The principle is in this statement that Jesus made: “every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit” (Matthew 7:17). We must examine the fruit. And the Bible is quite clear on what the diseased fruit of foolishness looks like:
- The foolish have eyes that show pride (Proverbs 6:17).
- The foolish say bad things about others (Proverbs 10:18).
- The foolish joke about their wrongdoing (Proverbs 10:23).
- The foolish say whatever they think people want to hear … they think they can win any argument (Psalm 12:2-4).
- The foolish always think their own way is best (Proverbs 12:15).
- The foolish are easily upset (Proverbs 12:16).
- The foolish speak without thinking and their words cut like a knife (Proverbs 12:18).
- The foolish speak and act with recklessness and carelessness (Proverbs 14:16).
- The foolish despise instruction and reproofs from those who are wiser (Proverbs 15:5).
- When the foolish try and speak in a dignified manner it feels artificial (Proverbs 17:7).
- Rebukes just bounce off of the foolish (Proverbs 17:10).
- The foolish love to boldly pronounce their opinions (Proverbs 18:2).
- The foolish hurt themselves when they speak. Their own words trap them (Proverbs 18:7).
- The foolish frequently disregard wisdom (Proverbs 23:9)
- There is no good way to answer fools when they say something stupid. If you answer them, then you, too, will look like a fool. If you don’t answer them, they will think they are smart (Proverbs 26:4-5).
- The foolish have a history of repeating their folly (Proverbs 26:11).
- The foolish are quick to express their anger (Proverbs 29:11).
- The foolish are often characterized by shouting (Ecclesiastes 9:17).
- The foolish may consider themselves religious, but their unbridled tongues show that religion to be worthless (James 1:26).
This is not an exhaustive list of foolishness, nor
(obviously) is it the only list to consider when electing a leader. This is
simply level one. If a potential leader does not pass the assessment of this
list, we must consider them disqualified.
Examine the Fruit
What is true of false prophets is also true of foolish
leaders: “you will recognize them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:20). So examine
the fruit. It is true that all leaders, being sinners, will act foolishly on
occasion. What we are looking for is consistent, characteristic fruit, not
anomalies. If you find characteristic fruit of foolishness, do not be deceived
by words or fear or any form of pressure. Do not elect a fool to a ruling
position.
For what is true of false prophets
is also true of foolish leaders: they will act wickedly. And “when the wicked
rule, the people groan” (Proverbs 29:2).

Should I vote for Bernie? An open letter to my offspring
I want to teach at my beloved high school. I was distinguished graduate earning my master's degree at the U of Denver, thanks to the Air Force. But it's not good enough to teach at King's. I need a teaching certificate. I can't afford more tuition. Bernie offers me free education. I need it. OPEN LETTER TO MY CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN and GREAT GRANDCHILD: They say there is no free lunch. Would you be willing to finance Pappy? I really, really want to teach, and I have the gift. Do you have the gift of giving? Will you pay for my free lunch? Can you find it in your heart to authorize our government to borrow and spend in my behalf? In advance, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, my Darlings!
